More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked for three different parks and recreations over the years where I was in charge of running the various camps for youth ages 3 to 18. I would plan the activities for each camp based on its theme and purpose. I was in charge of transporting children to and from different camp locations.
The best part of this job was playing with the children and partaking in the camp activities with them, and getting to know each of them.
Many of these camps I was the lead over the other staff members, and I was the one to have the first aid, and held the responsibility of their safety above anyone else.
My current parks and rec job I teach youth sports to ages 3-7, and run after school day camps for ages 5-12.
I also always do as many babysitting gigs as I can to spend more time with kiddos.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Swimming, biking, hiking, nature walks, scavenger hunts, jumping on the trampoline, playing at the park, sports etc. Anything physical and active that the kids enjoy I can and will do!
I also love arts and crafts, puzzles, games, dress up, pretend play, and I love to dance.
Every activity with kids is fun to me.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny is that the kids are happy and have reasons to laugh and smile every day when they are with me. Simply letting the children have fun and not take things too serious. I do believe that structure is important, but if a kid wants to have a 5 min dance break from their reading or homework, lets do it and then re-focus.
My experience with special needs children...
I was a personal support worker for a 5 year old child with non-verbal autism. My duties ranged from taking her to therapies, working with her on life skills, and ensuring her overall needs were met; bathing, bathroom, feeding. She was my buddy and I would take her on a lot of fun outings to the lake, playground, and swimming.
She was a major choke risk as she would put everything in her mouth, so I always had to be paying strong attention to her when she was in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...
When I let the three year old girl I was a nanny for do my makeup. She was laughing so hard the entire time because she knew how bad it was. She kept saying "you pretty Audrey." I did her makeup after and we took pictures together. A day to remember for sure.

Babysitter Available in Paia, HI: Jane K.
Hi! My name is Jane and I'm a 36 year old Korean-American mixed media artist. I attended art college in the bay area, California and majored in Fine Arts. I grew up in a home immersed in Eastern medicine (my father was an Acupuncturist and my parents ran an Acupuncture and eastern herbs clinic). I caregave both of my parents full time and by myself for almost a decade (My father had Parkinson's and my mother has stage 5 Dementia). I am now nannying a 1 year old and a 1 month old in Hilo temporarily. I am passionate about healthy cooking and baking, authenticity, human kindness, holistic wellness, food as medicine, art therapy, psychology, healing PTSD and farm to table practices. I am calm, patient, kind and present. I am not yet CPR certified but I am happy to become certified. My rates and hours are flexible, and I do prefer a live-in situation. I currently do not have a car but it is possible I may be able to get a car within a few months.
