A little bit about me

Hey there- I'm Ava Norris! I live in North Austin and I have 3 years of professional Nannying experience! I grew up with 5 other sisters, 3 of which are deaf and blind triplets so I genuinely enjoy taking care of children and those around me. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Beyond Nannying, I am a children's Gymnastics Coach at High Tech Gymnastics! With gracious flexibility I've been able to change my hours to work around my Nannying schedule, allowing me to have stayed with the company for 4 years in counting!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE the outdoors and I find that more than often, it's a magic potion to make kids feel good:) Weather their speed is picnic and painting or basketball and chasing, getting in the sun and smelling the grass is something all children can benefit from!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of being a Nanny is to love the child as your own! As parents, children are your most prized possessions, they're irreplaceable and you would stop at nothing to make sure that they're happy and safe. My job as a Nanny is to do nothing less, I should act as a filler in between the parents range of care. Meaning whatever care the parents give to their children is now my duty to provide until they can return. Taking full responsibility for these duties is of upmost importance as children need emotional stability and extensive support so that they have a firm ground to grow on. Being a Nanny means stepping in and caring for someone as they are your very own while also knowing when to step back and give room for that special parent-child connection.

My experience with special needs children...

While growing up with my 3 deaf and blind sisters I've gotten the chance to stretch my abilities and learn new things constantly! Zoe, Emma and Sophie have given me quite a bit of experience with out-of-the-norm needs however, I'm always looking to learn more in order to support whatever kind of needs I may encounter.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite "Nanny Moment" so far would have to be the work I've done with my current Nanny-family of 3 boys. I've been with the youngest boy since he was just 1 and I've had the privilege of hearing him find his voice for the very first time!! Teaching him to speak, count to 15 and sing his ABC's all before the age of 2 years is an accomplishment that I do not take lightly and one that I also can't take full credit for. While I have taught and support him at every turn, It comes down to his own bravery- my favorite "Nanny moment" is when I realized that I had taught him to trust and believe in himself enough to stick with it even when learning wasn't easy!
