I have babysat, taught kids art classes, been a camp counselor, taught kids music classes, worked with children who have developmental disabilities, nannied full time and worked in a school setting with kids aged 4 months-6 years. Currently I am nannying part time for a family with a 3 year old and a 6 month old and am looking for another part time position!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to do dramatic play with children, going to the park, picking out new books at the library, trying arts and crafts with children, dancing, singing, teaching them about the world but most importantly following their lead!
My experience with special needs children...
My internship in college was working at Respite Care for a semester which is a child care facility for children with a wide array of developmental disabilities. This included engaging in education activities, imaginary play, helping with mealtimes, assisting in transitions, and facilitating friendships.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I was caring for this sweet 2 year old girl and an infant. The 2 year old loved movie characters and while we were at the park, a mother with similar aged children looked to her daughter and said "wow look, she's a big sister just like you!" referring to the child I was with. She looks to the woman and says "I am not a big sister, I am Rapunzel!"
