Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
When I was in high school I handled nearly 30 elementary students grades 2nd-5th during a high school musical. It was my first group experience as during high school I would baby sit a couple kids at a time! It came with struggles but I was able to find age approbate activities for my larger age range such as, coloring, bracelet making, short movies, and quiet games! I learned a lot about working with older kiddos and even younger middle schoolers that needed more guidance.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love partaking in dramatic play with younger children (3-7) I find it to be the most important play area in child development as that is how children try to interpret the world around them. For older kids playing more complex games while talking to them is really enjoyable. During games is when kids open up about how they feel and I tend to understand the child better over a simple game!
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with special needs children. I once took care of a little boy (4yo) with some speech delays (which really frustrated the child) and he had some behavioral problems when it came to communicating with other children. One day the child was having some big feelings over his home life and he was hitting other kids on the playground. I removed him from the situation and we walked around an inclosed grass area. The boy then talked about mommy and baby boy hugs and him feeling scared. By doing this walk he was able to tell me why he was upset and also get one and one attention!
