I have worked as a babysitter/nanny, camp counselor, youth ministry leader/role model, and substitute teacher. I started babysitting close to 7 years ago, and have consistently been working in some form of child care since then.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy to help children grow in creativity by encouraging imaginative play and any craft-type activity. I also enjoy doing outdoor activities with children, such as any sport, walks, biking, etc. I also have experience working with children in the classroom. So I enjoy aiding in any way I can academically.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Most of my favorite moments as a nanny are when the children are playing in a creative way. I worked with one family with kids that loved to build obstacle courses within their playroom. They would create the course and then have a competition of who could go through it the quickest. We would often make the competition extra fun by adding in music and creating different characters to act out. The children had so much fun doing this, so I now try to implement this activity with every kid I work with now. This activity not only provides an activity that lets them move and be physical but also activates their creative side.
