A little bit about me

I retired early after teaching 38 years (K-2nd grades and Early Child Special Education). I am in Hopkins only part time; typically 2 weeks each month caring for my 2 year old granddaughter. She is truly a blessing.

I love spending time with babies and toddlers in particular. I have two grandsons who live out of state. Miss those sweethearts!

When I am in the Hopkins area, I would be available during the day on Tuesdays, evenings after 6:00 and weekends. I am flexible with occasional times and days. I am open to brainstorming options that would work best for your child and family and my own.

Early Child Special Education teacher for 29 years and Special educator for Kdgn - 2 grade 9 years I also worked with birth to 3 year olds for a 3 month time period to cover a childcare leave.

I have completed training and worked as a personal care attendant for a young girl for several years and am still involved as friends with this family.

You name it…. I’m a teacher.
I love incorporating both inside and outside activities, crafts, sensory activities, reading books, etc. I typically see where a child’s present level is and then continue toward the next developmental milestones. There are so many opportunities for our young ones and new families.

My experience with special needs children...

I graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and received my my Elementary Education teaching degree along with two teaching licenses within Special education, as well as a minor in psychology. I completed everything for a teaching license with learning disabilities except for one class at Mankato State University.
(I did not complete this Class because I was moved to a different position). I then went back to obtain my certification in Early Childhood Special Education.

Following this I earned my Master's Degree in the area of special education from St. Mary’s University.

What isn’t to love when you’re teaching and caring for your grandchildren? I love to share their growth and funny/sweet little mannerisms with their loved ones through pictures and videos.
