Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteered at my church for my senior project in the daycare room for one year, I have helped with the daycare program at my gym. I babysit my niece and nephew a lot, I also work with a foster care agency and stay in homes and watch foster children while their family goes on vacations.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to do crafts, go on walks and pick out cool things for their little collection, play with their favorite toys, (if allowed take them to get ice cream) I try to avoid so much tv time and do more activities that they enjoy! Also maybe taking them to a nearby park and going on the swings! Depending on age too if it’s a newborn I like to do different activities that’s good for the brain development!
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me It’s nurturing. Being able to connect on a deeper level, building a safe and loving relationship and offer a stable environment. Making sure the kids/babies needs and wants are met. Making sure communication and connection is strong with the child’s parents or family. Overall to help educate, love and guide them through life!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with the special education program in high school and I have worked with kids who had Down syndrome (I like to call it up syndrome though) I have worked with kids who were speech impaired (developmentally delayed) I worked with this one girl who couldn’t talk and was in a wheelchair and I learned how to communicate with her on paper! I worked with these kids my junior and senior year of high school!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many amazing memories with the kids I’ve worked with! My favorite memory was with this 5 year old girl. We were listening to some of our favorite songs and coloring then her favorite song came up and she grabbed my hand and we started dancing around the room, that’s a moment I’ll never forget just seeing how happy she was!
