A little bit about me

I am a mother to adult children, my son is in the Army Special Forces and my daughter lives in the Loveland area. I moved to the area to be closer to my daughter and her family, being closer them was important to me. I love being a "Yaya" to her two sweet boys, a two year old and six month old. Before my move, I was a toddler teacher at a childcare center. Previously, I was the infant lead teacher at the same center I love working with children, especially infants. I love to give infants the opportunities to learn and grow, while also exposing them to different activities and types of enrichment both sensory and mentally. I look forward to bringing fun, enriching, and educational activities into the daily routine. I value having a good working relationship and open, honest communication with the families I am working with. I know how important it is to have the open communication between caregiver and parents. We are a team, but they are the parents first, what they say goes!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Prior to my move to CO I was the lead teacher in the toddler room at a childcare center. My ratio was 1:7 and I loved working with my kids. Some of our favorite things to do involved fun sensory activities, art crafts, going on fun explorations outside, story time, and so many other fun projects! We kept a daily routine, and also practiced things like handwashing, taking turns, and even using the toilet. Every week I would plan out our educational activities based around a fun theme, keeping in mind the interests and needs of the individual children in our class. I absolutely loved working with my class, we always had so much fun. Right before I was in the toddler room, I was the lead infant teacher until the infant room closed. I loved working with the infants and watching them learn and grow every single day. Infant's brains are just like sponges and I loved helping them soak up knowledge and new skills with developmentally appropriate activities every single day!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing a variety of activities with children. I personally love learning and I want the children I work with to enjoy learning as well. There are so many different ways to learn! I love different types of art, making crafts, and sensory activities. I love baking and gardening with children and going on walks to the park or even just around the neighborhood! Story time is another favorite of mine as well! I also enjoy learning about the interests of the children I'm working with as well and incorporating that into our daily routine and activities!

The most important part about being a nanny...

is supporting the parents. They are their child's number one, what they say and care about and fostering that with their little ones is extremely important to me. In addition to that I value having open and honest communication with the families I am working with. I want their child to feel safe, accepted, and enjoy the time I am with them. Boundaries are important, especially boundaries and rules that are in place before I enter the home.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience working with foster infants who had medical needs. In addition to that both my son and grandson have autism spectrum diagnosis and I have experience with their therapies. Some of the children in my classrooms came from foster situations that were stressful and it was necessary to be aware of their possibly unique needs within those delicate situations as well.
