A little bit about me

Hello! I just moved to Denver and am hoping to work from now through the month of January. I am currently taking the semester off due to COVID-19 but have been attending Lake Forest College (north of Chicago) and would be going into my junior year studying Human Services and Studio Art. I am originally from Chattanooga, TN but decided to move out to Denver with some friends rather than stay at home. I am very responsible, creative, and take child care very seriously, while still making sure to have tons of fun! I already have one part time nanny job and am looking to fill some of my free time with another. My availability is updated on my profile. :)

"As the volunteer coordinator at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, I worked with Blythe at an afterschool program, summer camp, and on build sites with Habitat for Humanity. She has a heart for helping others and builds relationships of trust quickly. At the afterschool program, she coached students through challenging homework, read to and with children, and played. I enjoyed observing her coloring with some of the regular middle school girls. While they never wanted help from volunteers, they enjoying sitting with "B" as they called her. While sitting and coloring, they had improtant conversations about academics, friends, family, school, their neighborhoods and more. The students missed her so much when she went to college that they made her cards we posted on Instagram."

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent my junior and senior year of high school volunteering after school as a tutor for elementary school children. I worked with ages 4-11 for 3 summers during high school as a camp counselor. I babysat 2 boys (4 & 7 when I started) consistenty starting when I was 14 up until I left for college. And though I have mainly held on campus jobs (non-childcare) during my first two years of college I do volunteer with the boys and girls club nearby almost every week.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my majors in college is studio art so I am very crafty and enjoy doing creative and imaginative activities. I also enjoy reading and am happy to help with homework. My experience as a camp counselor required me to design activities all the time and be innovative with free time in between!

Being attentive to the children's needs and making sure they're having fun in a healthy environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Every summer when I would see returning campers that I had the year before, they would recognize me and beg the camp administration to be in my group again. It was really affirming that I was doing a good job and I always had to mediate conversations about how their new counselors would be just as great! : )
