A little bit about me

My name is Brandie. I am a single mom. I have my associate's degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. I have been a live-in and a live-out nanny before. I have also worked in a daycare for 6 years. with the public school system for 3 and in various other odd babysitting/church nursies.

I do have a six-year-old. I am looking for a family who would take us both (live in) or need me during his school hours, or be willing to let me do a home school program with him and your children.

I have been working on developing my own curriculum from birth through high school.
I am laid back and easygoing. I can do simple cleaning.
I am also willing for your children to come to me as needed. I am open religiously and non-judgemental about anything.

I do own my vehicle, and I have experience driving and riding with multiple children at one time as well as individually.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently the director of a daycare, but I am looking for something that works a bit better for my six-year-old and me. I have also worked as a paraprofessional, a teacher, and in several other various roles in the school system.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing all sorts of things with children. I love to teach, but I like to find new and creative ways to teach. I am also on a learning journey myself. I have been learning how to do things that I can then teach and do with my son, such as gardening. These are things I would love to do with your children as well. Gardening, Projects, Arts, field trips, Reading, and more.

The most important part about being a nanny...

First is the children's health and safety. Which includes their mental health. One of my favorite quotes goes "Children don't care how much you know until they know you care." Children learn and thrive best when they feel safe, secure, and loved. Then they can express themselves and learn about their environment. That goes hand and hand with their happiness. As I mentioned in another part, laughter is a great bonding agent.

Keeping the children safe, happy, and loved. While also upholding the needed boundaries is the most important thing.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a little experience with special needs. I worked as a special needs bus monitor for a while then as a paraprofessional for about a year and a half before Covid. I loved working with all of my children over the years. My own child has his own issues that require a little extra attention, love, and understanding.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Gosh, I have so many. My first nanny job (not live in) was long before I had my child. I had the privilege of spending time with the sweetest baby boy. Some of my favorite memories include teaching him to swim, doing creative sensory projects like tongue painting, and reading books at nap/bedtime. When I was a nanny for two elementary children (live in) some of my favorite memories involved doing homework with them. I love when a child's face lights up when they understand something and play interactive (no TV) games with them. Laughter is the best bonding agent. Working in various roles in the daycare system for 8 years, it is basically the same. I remember every one of my kids. I love all their unique personalities. I think some of my fondest memories though were the times I was working with special needs kids. They can really keep you on your toes and that can make things exciting!
