I also volunteered with many different clubs to help out at local elementary schools while I was in high school.

I enjoy doing whatever the child enjoys! I'm a pro with dolls and legos. I also have a car so (parent permitting) could take children to a local park, pool, or wherever else the parents need their child to go during the day.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not directly cared for exceptional children in a babysitting/nanny position. I was however part of a women's group in high school who worked with exceptional children in nearby Elementary schools. I also helped with Special Olympics all 4 years I was in high school.

Hello! I’m Shannon and I’m a mom to one 11 yr old. I am 40 years old and I will be finished with my bachelors degree in psychology in June. I have a severely handicapped sister and helped care for her all my life. My daughter is getting older and I’m ready to be working full time again. I am responsible, punctual, empathetic and caring. I’ll treat your children with the love and care I would want someone to treat my daughter with. I am knowledgeable about nutrition as a former personal trainer and I have extensive experience in house cleaning as well. I taught self defense for 10 years and so I am very situationally aware. I currently work in the hospital on the psychiatric unit. The hours are too long and it’s very stressful. I believe using my skills, education and life experience to care for others and help families would be a better fit for my kind and caring personality. I’d love to find a family to serve and have better hours and make meaningful connections. Thank you!

Like many nannies, I started babysitting as a teenager. Since then I've worked in elementary schools and the YMCA, mostly with school-aged children (occasionally preschoolers). I would do tasks such as tutoring, playing with the children outside, and working with them one-on-one. I've also been a preschool teacher, where I wrote lesson plans, lead group activities, and much more!
More recently, I’ve worked as a certified birth and postpartum doula. Part of my job as a doula was to support parents during the first few months of the postpartum period. This included taking care of the baby’s basic needs, addressing concerns with parents, and finding ways to best support them.
