A little bit about me

My name is Brooklyn Peña. I have lots of experience working with children which includes being a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at Mountain Valley School in Colorado. I coached both middle school volleyball and basketball, plus, became a PE Teacher for grades K-2nd. When I moved to Albuquerque, NM I did CNA work for elderly Veterans and decided my calling is working with children. I became a lead preschool teacher at Covenant School with children ages 3 months old to 5 years old. My husband and I just moved to Lubbock a few months ago. I have been utilizing my skills in resin/leather crafts but now am wanting to make a little extra going back to my love of working woth kiddos. Taking on a nannying job, my focus would be being a positive influence in children's lives and bring a fun, nurturing, welcoming atmosphere. I enjoy the outdoors, singing, being goofy, crafts and thoroughly have a passion in helping others.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love the outdoors from hiking to fishing, to throwing the ball around on a warm summer day. I am also very crafty and have a ton of fun coming up with art projects to do with kiddos. Do your little ones like music? Me too!!! I sing at my church I attend and love to do karaoke.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I absolutely love to make little ones laugh and feel loved. It is important for me to help them learn and have a fantastic day. I enjoy being a part of that. I think it is important for kids to have structure and know they have a voice too.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked a lot with children more so with learning difficulties such as reading, or behavior needs. However, being a caregiver for our elderly Veterans has given me a lot of insite. I have dealt with adults having dementia, paralysis, bed ridden patients, and some with catheters and such. I know that will come into playing a big role in helping me accommodate children with other specific needs as well.
