Hi! I’m Brook, a former educator with a degree in Human Development and a lifelong passion for learning. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping students discover the joy of reading. There’s nothing quite like watching a child find a book they can’t put down, and fostering a love of literacy will always be close to my heart.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me in the kitchen trying a new recipe, curled up with a good book, or exploring the outdoors. I love art, spending time in nature, and finding beauty in the little things. I’m also a huge animal lover and have a soft spot for animals of every kind.

I’m naturally curious and always excited to learn something new, meet new people, and make meaningful connections. I believe kindness, creativity, and a love of learning can make a lasting difference, and I try to bring those values into everything I do.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Caring for children has always been a part of who I am. As the oldest of seven siblings, with a 13-year age gap between me and the youngest, I’ve spent much of my life helping care for and support children long before it became my career.

While earning my undergraduate degree, I spent three and a half years working at a childcare center, where I cared for children ranging from just 6 weeks old to 11 years of age. After graduating, I became a nanny for a wonderful family with two children. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also helped support an elementary-aged student with virtual learning, which deepened my love for education and individualized support.

In 2022, I joined Teach For America and began my journey as a second-grade teacher. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping young learners grow academically, build confidence, and develop a love of learning. Working with children has shaped both my personal and professional life, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love creating hands-on experiences that encourage children to learn, explore, and express themselves. Art is one of my favorite ways to connect with children because it inspires creativity, builds confidence, and gives them the freedom to share their unique ideas.

I believe some of the best learning happens through imaginative outdoor play. Whether we’re setting off on a pretend adventure or inventing a new game together, I love encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

Reading is another passion of mine. I enjoy bringing stories to life with silly voices and interactive storytelling, making books fun while strengthening comprehension and nurturing a lifelong love of reading.

I also love cooking with children because it naturally teaches counting, measuring, following directions, teamwork, and independence. Watching children gain confidence while creating something they’re proud of is one of my favorite parts of spending time together.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of nannying to me is building strong, trusting relationships with the children and families I work with. I believe children thrive when they feel safe, respected, heard, and genuinely cared for. Creating a consistent environment with clear boundaries helps children build confidence, develop independence, and feel secure enough to explore the world around them. I strive to foster a love of learning by encouraging curiosity, asking questions, and making everyday moments opportunities for discovery. I also believe creativity plays an important role in a child’s development, whether through art, imaginative play, storytelling, music, or simply finding new ways to solve problems together. My goal is always to create a nurturing environment where children feel supported, celebrated, and empowered to grow into kind, confident, and curious individuals.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories from nannying is dancing and singing in the rain with my kiddos. Living in Washington, a light drizzle could last all day, and after being cooped up inside, we’d pull on our rain boots and head out for a walk. Those simple walks almost always turned into magical adventures filled with imagination, laughter, and puddle jumping. Some of our best conversations and biggest laughs happened on those rainy days. It was a beautiful reminder that children don’t need perfect weather to make unforgettable memories. Sometimes they just need someone willing to embrace the moment with them. Those adventures will always hold a special place in my heart.
