A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Cailyn and I am 27 years old. I have babysat since I was 12 and I have extensive experience (10+ years) with special needs children and adults, including ASD, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, encephalopathy, orthopedic impairments, and global developmental delays, as well as with seizures, medication administration, g-tube feedings (and replacements), and oral and trach suctioning. I have experience with ages newborn-adults. I also have a BS in Psychology, a minor in Neuroscience, and a Child Development Associate. I am CPR, First Aid (including AED), and CPI certified. I am also currently an RBT. I have experience with and am comfortable with up to four kids at once; more could be fine depending on their ages.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My junior and senior years of high school I spent working half the day in a special needs preschool. After school, I would work in a 3s and 4s room at a Montessori. After high school, I was the lead teacher in a 2s room, the lead 6th grade summer school teacher, and an assistant site coordinator for an elementary after school program. I have coached gymnastics for ages 18 months-6 years and I coached the Tiny and Mini (ages 2-8) teams for competitive cheerleading. I currently work with kids and adults as an RBT. I have 7 years of ABA experience, including as a trainer for new hires. I also have 3.5 years experience working in a medically fragile classroom.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

making crafts, going outside on walks, going to the park, having dance parties, science experiments, and cooking!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I know as a nanny I play a huge role in raising kids to be kind, helpful, and independent, and that isn't something I ever take lightly!

I have over 10 years of experience working with children on the autism spectrum, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple disabilities, epilepsy, global developmental delays, orthopedic impairments, brain injuries, and other behavioral/emotional problems.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most (and least) favorite moment was right before I moved to California, I stopped at my nanny family's house to say goodbye, and the kids (and their mom) all started crying because I was leaving. It meant so much to me to know they really do love me as much as I have loved them for the past 4 years!
