More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a swim instructor for my local YMCA back in Delaware and specialized in classes of all ages. I primarily worked with preschool aged children, but I also lead parent child classes where the babies were less than 12 months old, and I lead the adult classes late at night as well. I also worked one on one with special needs children of numerous ages through the YMCA’s SWAM program. In this job I had to care for the child during the classes hours, while teaching them to safely swim, dive, and be safe around ledges, the sun, waves, aquatic slides, etc. I was a lifeguard at the indoor and outdoor pools of this establishment as well. I learned first aid, CPR, and other lifeguard skills in the courses required for this position and gained certifications for each. I have also previously babysat family members and friends around preschool age, while completing light housekeeping, preparing meals for the children, and driving them to and from practices and other events.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy completing arts and crafts, tv time, and other outdoor activities. Arts and crafts is a fun way to get children involved with hands on learning. At the Y we would use markers to teach the children about sun safety by having them draw as many sun safety items as possible, before explaining why it is a correct item. I am prepared and willing to clean up any messes that may result, but will find non messy alternatives if requested by the parents. At the parents approval I will put on an age appropriate show while I complete other tasks such as meal prep or cleaning, but will ensure to watch the child. Safe and fun outdoor activities are always a fun way to get the child moving, with access to fresh air, but most importantly they will be kept in a safe environment. I never take my eye off the child and ensure that they are always playing safely. I was taught in my previous job experience with the Y about child safety in all types of environments, not just those involving water.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part of being a nanny is caring for the children. Not just caring for their needs or keeping them safe, but also allowing them to have fun, be creative, and learn. It is for this reason that I greatly enjoy arts and crafts and science based activities, as the children can learn and process new information in a hands on way. They can use this information down the road in future years, but can have fun and be creative while completing the activity in present time.
My experience with special needs children...
I have previously worked one on one with special needs children of multiple ages. My local YMCA in Wilmington, Delaware offered a SWAM program during its swim lesson seasons. It is through this job that I gained numerous experience with children having special needs. I learned how to properly communicate, listen, and teach the children in this program. I worked one on one with the child to fully learn and understand their behaviors and how to calm them down when they would get worked up because of an outside factor. Just as I did with the other children I taught to swim, I had to effectively communicate and teach them about not only swimming, but safety as well. This previous experience has allowed me to feel completely comfortable caring for children with special needs, as they may have a few extra requirements.
The most important part about being a nanny...
While I have little previous official nannying experience, I have plenty of experience babysitting my young family members and friends children. During these times my favorite moments with the children would have to be anytime that they smile. This informs me that I am allowing them to have fun and be creative, while keeping them safe. I especially enjoy when they communicate to me that an activity I planned was entertaining and something they greatly enjoyed.

My name is morgan. I am a 19 year old from Texas who has always had a strong passion for working with children. This experience shaped my sense of responsibility, patience, and love for nurturing others.
