Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have done volunteer work at an elementary school in Aurora, where I served as a teacher’s aid in a low-resource school. I was tasked with helping children get ahead on their schoolwork, as well as communicate with children who did not speak English. I have also worked with children with disabilities several times in the past, and I am comfortable and capable with helping them meet their needs. I have a lot of experience specifically with children on the autism spectrum. I have experience with children of all ages, from infant (0-11 months) to teenagers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts, going on walks and hikes, going to the pool during the summertime, watching movies together, baking together, painting, and playtime.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a variety of children with special needs, from unnamed disabilities that impacted their progress in school, to one on one care with children on the autism spectrum. I worked as a direct caretaker for a child on the autism spectrum for a whole summer.
