I was a substitute teacher working with children ages 3-14. I also have been a full-time as well as part-time nanny for families with children ages newborn to age 6.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Younger children: working on colors, numbers, shapes, reading books, zipping, tying shoes, and playing games and coloring. Letting them use their imaginations. Going for walks, going to the park. Older children: Showing an interest in what they like, playing games, listening to music, dancing, letting them take the lead on what we should do.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being the support system the parents need. I like to feel I'm an extension of the parents for the times they can't be there. I also think it's important for a nanny to be engaged with the children she's caring for. I love to help children learn about the world they live in through play and hands on experiences.
