More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have over 28 years of experience working with children from the ages of 3 to 11 years old. I also have 10 years of experience working with special education children. Prior to working with children in school I was a nanny for a family who had an 8 month old little boy and I was his nanny for 4 years. I have raised 2 children of my own as well as cared for many children in my family.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities have to be age appropriate. They can range anywhere from playing peekaboo to singing, dancing, reading and teaching them nursery rhymes. Going outside and teaching in a fun way about nature and the things we are surrounded by. Teaching in a fun way starts at home.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I realize that in looking after someone else’s children, I am being trusted to care for someone precious to them. For me, that means that safety is priority. A nanny must keep the children safe and healthy, and if anything should happen, must have the judgment to take the appropriate actions quickly. Second, a good nanny must be trustworthy and have integrity. The parents need to be able to know that I will do what they ask of me, and am 100% honest. Third, a good nanny needs to be 100% engaged. She needs to put away her phone, get down on the floor with the kiddos, and give all of her focus to them. And fourth, a good nanny needs to make the children feel comfortable and happy in his/her parents’ absence.
My experience with special needs children...
I have over 10 years of experience working with special ed children ages 3 to 11 years old. I also worked with ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) children for 3 years.
