The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is leading with influence rather than just authority. While I am the responsible adult, I aim to relate to kids by being curious about their perspective and listening to their needs. I don't believe in 'bulldozing' a child's personality. I want to protect their authenticity while providing the stern, consistent boundaries they need to feel safe and supported.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs is rooted in my life as a parent to a non-verbal child on the autism spectrum. Through formal parenting education and extensive research, I have developed effective strategies for communication and behavioral support. I understand that the spectrum is vast and that every child requires a tailored approach. I am passionate about providing a patient, nurturing environment where children with diverse needs feel understood and supported.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment involved caring for a non-verbal teenager. It was a powerful lesson in non-verbal communication; he was able to express so much personality and intent just through his eyes. Navigating that connection taught me the importance of being fully present and observant. It was a sweet, successful experience that highlighted the beauty of individual communication styles on the spectrum.
