I have worked in a daycare which in the end felt too impersonal for the kind of care I like to provide for childhood development. I also have babysat all my life and have spent countless hours around my sister’s children. I also have three step children of my own that are now grown.

Safety! Kids are curious and usually do not yet know the bounds of the world around them. So while I find creativity and encouragement to be a very close runner up, safety is my very first concern in any and all situations.
My experience with special needs children...
In my youth I regularly cared for a wheelchair bound 7 year old who needed regular assistance with bathing, eating and suctioning of her airway passages. I also have worked with a 9 year old with autism and my own step son with ADHD.
