More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teacher in a Montessori school, and also run a youth group for middle school and high school students. I have experience working with a variety of children to develop academically as well as socially.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going on walks and to parks with children as well as swimming. I love singing with children and practicing music (I play the ukulele, flute, and some piano). I enjoy helping children with academic struggles through tutoring and confidence building activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I want children in my care to be happy and safe and I believe it is important to be part of a child's team of support to make that happen. All parents and caregivers, including me as a nanny, should be able to communicate about the child's day freely including any joys or struggles and present one consistent, united network.

My experience with special needs children...

I've worked with a variety of special needs children in school settings and one on one. I've supported their academic, social, and emotional development. I believe to truly help a child succeed a strong team must be built between all that child's caregivers to give them consistent expectations and support.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was playing on a playground with a child (3 year old). He wanted to go onto the bigger playground, but was very tentative about the height of the tallest slide. It was clear he was trying to overcome his fears. I encouraged him to go down the slide if he wanted to, but let him know he could always do it another day. He walked up and down the play structure about ten times and I was sure he would abandon any idea of the tall slide. Without any pressure from me he marched up to the slide, determination on his face, and slid down. I was there to meet him at the bottom and the sense of pride and accomplishment was beaming from his sweet, little face. I love to see children build their confidence and overcome challenges on their own. We went onto a summer of playing more confidently on that play structure and he was able to engage with children older than him because he had overcome his fear. I'll never forget that experience.
