The most important part about being a nanny is understanding that every child is different.
My experience with special needs children...
My father's friend who has PTSD needed me to watch over is son who has autism. Being 5 years old, the energy was high, and it was extremely new to me. Yet, finding what he liked to do (which was surprisingly eating Cheeto puffs while watching movies or showing me objects outside) allowed the experience to be fun and become a regular thing.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was watching a friend's family friend's son who had no interest of me watching him. At first, he said it would be weird if a girl would watch him and he would argue even with me that entire time. After ordering pizza and allowing him to talk to me about his life, I was pleased when his mother continued to call because he asked for me himself and considered us friends.
