Hello,
I have been teaching elementary education for the past 7 years. This year, I am a top 5 nominee for the NYC Big Apple Teacher Award. The Big Apple Awards recognize and celebrate teachers who inspire students, model great teaching, and enrich their school communities. I am excited to have ended my New York City teaching career on such an exciting note, but I am even more thrilled to begin a new path in California.
I recently made the move from NYC to Sacramento with my husband and 1-year old daughter. My husband works full time during the day, and I have been teaching online from home.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Teaching alphabet sounds, counting, and reading.
Playing with building blocks, yoga, exercise, dance, and ball games.
I was a basketball player in high school, so I enjoy teaching kids the foundations of the sport. I also hosted an annual basketball tournament in South Africa for children in low income communities.
In Brooklyn, NY, I hosted a weekly dance Zumba class for children 12 years and younger.
In addition, I teach an online personal finance course for children.
I really enjoy building the whole child, so I'm confident your child will do nothing but flourish in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is building the whole child. This means teaching them things beyond their immediate reach. Children are eager to learn about the world around them so the more you expose them to new ideas, the more they'll shift their mindset to adapt to the environment. I like to expose children to different cultures, ideas, art, and movements that challenge them mentally and physically.
My experience with special needs children...
I have taught in an Integrated co-teaching classroom for all 7 years of teaching. I have experience with children with ADHD, Autism, and other learning disabilities. I have been successful in improving all of their academic and social skills.
