A little bit about me

I’ve been a Nanny for many years! My schedule is completely open & I can work any hours/days or several days at once if needed. I’m energetic, patient, organized, prompt & very attentive. I worked at local Elem. School as a Tutor, Sub. Teacher, and Behavioral Therapy with special needs (autistic) children. I worked one-on-one on behavioral-issues after IEP was implemented with goal of mainstreaming into the classroom with little to no behavior problems. I kept the Nursery & taught Children’s Church at our Church for a few years. I love watching children laugh, learn & explore! I try to keep them active & encouraged by reading to them, doing crafts, making learning fun & exciting for them! My goal is to create lasting smiles, great memories, safe environment by being consistent, reliable, & giving my undivided attention & 110% to each child while also giving much needed peace of mind to the Parents! That’s so important to know that your child is happy, safe & being well cared for!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at my children’s Elementary School with special needs Students. I was a Substitute Teacher for a while at the same Elementary School. I was an after-school Tutor for a short time. I taught Children’s Church at my Church for a few years as well as kept the Nursery. I also have kept children in my home while their Parent(s) worked. I have 3 (almost grown) wonderful children of my own.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love talking to them and seeing what they enjoy doing! I love going for walks with them (when it’s nice outside), playing outdoors, reading to them and doing CRAFTS are my two favorites! You can make any day a fun and interesting day! 🙂

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety!! You have to be watchful at all times. Creating smiles and great memories are also very important! These things come together by being consistent and reliable, giving the children my undivided attention and the Parents the peace of mind they need knowing their child/children are happy, safe and are being well cared for!

My experience with special needs children...

I received the certification/training required to work with special needs “Autistic” children on behavioral-issues; guided by their IEPs (Individualized Educational Plans) that we set in place for them at the beginning of the year with their: Teacher, Parent(s), Principle and any other Provider from services they may receive. The goal is tailored towards mainstreaming them into the classroom with little to no behavioral problems, developing better social skills, improving their speech skills, and self-care abilities, while improving academically and reducing self-harm and other counterproductive behaviors all while teaching them to alter their behaviors in an observable way. This therapy is done “one on one” by (preferably) the same therapist as change is not something that is very easy to accept for someone with autism and is very disruptive!
