The most important part about being a nanny...
Obviously, it is to care for the children, but what I had learned from my experiences as a nanny and caretaker is that it's about a relationship. Creating a bond between the child, and the family, and developing trust when the family knows that they can trust me with their children. As well as when the children know that I am there for them.
My experience with special needs children...
I did work with a child who was on the autistic spectrum until he was moved to another classroom with my previous co-worker.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many but two that had touched my heart so- is when the twin baby girls I provided home care for had started to crawl, whenever I would come into the house and greet them they would smile at me and immediately crawl to me. The other was when I was putting them down for naptime, I had laid them down and one had knocked out but the other refused to let go of my arm and just stared into my eyes smiling until she fell asleep. And she refused to let me go while she was sleeping. It warms my heart to know that those girls had trusted me, though they are babies I had felt that they had trusted me to care for them, to love them, and I felt that they had loved me too.
