The most important part about being a nanny...
When a little girl I nannied for, she must have been 5. She called me when she was in 2nd grade to tell me she got an award in reading and she was so proud of herself. Then she says, I owe my award to you ❤️.
Back story: when she was learning her letters and starting to read she struggled horribly. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get it. So I used my experience in special needs to come up with a plan. I took a kids play pop up tent, some magnetic letters, a lollypop and put her in there. Together we worked everyday on letters then words tul she finally got it! By getting rid of the surrounding distractions(the tent), using tangible teaching tools and addressing other senses(the lollypop) she was able to focus and retain the information.
