My experience with special needs children...
I have volunteered at a special needs camp since 2019 and have been a “buddy” 11 times to both boys and girls. This entails being a one on one caregiver to the camper for the week. I helped with several differing abilities and ages. I helped shower, feed, do actives, games, and just overall be a friend. I have experience with wheelchairs, non-verbal communication, feeding tubes, seizers, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments with my kids is when the 6 year old comes up with crazy pretend games and I get to play along with shower her creative imagination works.
