I have experience in creative and educational games for the kids that I care for. In college I took classes on child development and have learned the range of play to promote independence, as well as working with social skills! Some examples include:
- Mud kitchens and potion mixing
-Toy car wash
-Sprinkler games
-Obstacle course with chalk
-Create a checklist of leaves, bugs, or specific rock shapes to find around the property.
-Draw hopscotch grids or create an active movement path with prompts like "do 5 jumping jacks".
-Fairy gardens: Collect twigs, small stones, and fallen petals to design tiny imaginative landscapes near tree roots

Making the child feel safe, keeping the child safe, being on time, clear communication, and having mutual trust with the kid’s guardians!
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with babysitting a seven-year-old child with down syndrome who was non-verbal. We often had pretend tea parties in the backyard, would draw together, or watch his favorite movies.

I was babysitting two kids and we built an obstacle course for marbles! It was so fun to see how the younger and older siblings had a different understanding of building cardboard structures. They also loved decorating the cardboard with markers!
