I was a student aid in Special Education, child super visor for elementary field trips, work with ages 3-16 years old. Nannied for an 11 year old boy for 1 year while in high school, also watched my twin cousins for years and raised my younger sister.

Cartoons! I love watching cartoons with children. Story time and readings, coloring. Dress up is always fun with the girls and I’m always down to show my interest in the boys hobbies.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is Patience and figuring out what that child needs more than anything else. Maybe it’s just a babysitter, maybe it’s a person to show them interest, or give them attention that they might lack. Figuring out what that child needs while in your care is the way to successfully build a healthy relationship and trust with that child.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have a lot of experience. To me special needs mean just that- they are a child with special needs. All children have special needs; some just have more special needs than others and some learn differently than others. I do not have a lot of experience. I had lost if social interaction in high school with some classmates and I also helped student teach/observe a special needs class at WC for 6 months and I thought it went well.
