Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was an intervention specialist at Scott Elementary School for one year and have done prior volunteer work in elementary schools. My mother has taught elementary school since I was in 5th grade so I've been helping out in her classroom since I was 11 years old. I'm also lucky to carry the title of aunt to a 3-month-old baby girl and care for her frequently.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When it is warm outside, you can catch your little ones and me at the park/playground running around and playing games, going on walks, and blowing bubbles. On those colder days, we might build the occasional snowman and enjoy some hot cocoa or get cozy inside with a fun movie or a good book together. As someone with educational experience, I would love to be able to implement some education into our time together as well. Whether that be implemented as a mini science experiment or a math game (dependent on age, of course). We would enjoy crafts and creative thinking time together but still leave you with the peace of mind that everything will be cleaned up by the end of our time together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is having boundaries and lots of love to give. While I know that may seem odd to deem those the most important part, I would say boundaries are important in the sense that I want the little one/s to respect me as someone that is there to help them learn how to explore the world and maybe a role model but not to look at me like a parent because those roles just can't be filled by anyone else. The second most important part may seem more obvious. Having lots of love can be translated into so many things. It can mean ensuring that the kids always get to do something that they want to do, or comforting them when they are sad or hurt, etc. I want to care for your children like I would if they were my own.
My experience with special needs children...
Although I have not worked directly with special needs children in a care capacity, I have worked with special needs children on an academic level. I understand that there are specific adaptations and care that is involved with special needs in most cases and would love to learn more about the depths of that beyond the education setting.
