I'm 49 years old. My husband and I have been married 23 years. We live in Visalia. I homeschooled both of my children through high school. They are grown; one is married and one is in college. I have a Bachelor's in Biology. I currently work as a substitute teacher for VUSD, TCOE and several other school districts. I've worked with disabled children as a sub, as well. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 2 younger siblings that I helped care for when we were growing up. I was also a frequent babysitter.

As an adult, I have homeschooled both of my now-adult children. I've worked with multiple ages at church (Sunday school, nursery). My background includes directing a youth summer camp for 3 years (ages 13-18). I'm currently working as a substitute teacher and I have tutored students in grammar, writing, and various levels of math.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing games, reading, helping them with their learning, visiting various parks (including theme parks), playing Frisbee, football, soccer, helping them explore various artistic pursuits, playing my ukulele

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is having the heart of a shepherdess. Children will forget what you say, but they'll never forget how you made them feel. So, in all things, caring for their little hearts. This includes instruction and correction.

Also, I think it is of upmost importance to maintain the boundary that I am not their parent. I am not a substitute for their parent. I have been tasked with a precious gift of pouring into their lives for a short while, and as such, I am to help them honor the relationship they've been given with their parents.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked as a substitute teacher for TCOE in their SPED classrooms. I thoroughly enjoy engaging with children who have special needs.

My son was apraxic until the age of 3, so I feel I have a unique perspective and experience as a mother.
