Hi! I’m Claiborne Fowler, and I’m a current M.Ed student at Vanderbilt University in Human Development Counseling, hoping to be a Child Therapist with a focus in Play Therapy (currently also looking into research surrounding Infant, Early Childhood, and Maternal Mental Health). I’m caring, creative, musical, responsible, and organized. I adore working with children of all ages, especially infants, and have many years of experience in childcare as well as education in developmental psychology.

Willing to get re-certified in CPR, First Aid, etc. if needed :)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

August 2025-present, I am a clinical intern at the Child Advocacy Center, working with children 4-18, primarily utilizing play and talk therapies.

July 2024-present, I have been a nanny for a sweet baby, starting at 3 months. They are now transitioning to daycare.

August 2023-May 2024, I was a Research Assistant for the Fuchs Research Group at Vanderbilt, where I worked daily tutoring 1st graders one-on-one, implementing reading and math interventions.

Throughout college for my Education Minor [phone number hidden]), I chose to do my observation hours at Danville Montessori in Kentucky in the kindergarten and elementary school classrooms.

Summer 2019, I was a summer camp counselor for a Harpeth Hall summer camp (Parks, Picnic, & Play) for ages 5-7.

I have also been babysitting regularly since I was 12 years old (it’s now been 11 years since then!) I begged to start babysitting at 10 when I still needed to be babysat myself and started working as a “mother’s helper.”

The most important part about being a nanny...

is offering true compassion, always putting the needs of the child and family first. I also think it is essential to engage children in enriching activities that promote their growth and joy, to create a nurturing and inspiring environment. Additionally, I believe in the power of clear communication and unwavering reliability to build trust with the family.

My experience with special needs children...

I interned at the Susan Gray School at Vanderbilt, working as a teacher’s assistant in infant-preschool age classrooms with both typically developing children along with those with special needs, as well as teaching music classes about the violin.
