A little bit about me

Howdy! I'm a sophomore at A&M studying sociology! I'm on the left in that picture next to one of my best friends. I don't know my career goal yet but I'm considering social work, or another profession I can make a change in. I've picked up babysitting jobs here and there before college, mostly for my neighbors or former teachers. I have been CPR and first aid certified before, but I will renew it. I have a severe food allergy and know exactly how to keep someone safe with one and what to do in emergency. I do not have a car right now but in the summer, when I can start working, I most likely will. I'm very creative and love art and music! I'm good with animals and have a fur baby myself. I am a gym rat and focus on health and exercise. I love kids and my ultimate goal is to keep them safe and happy. I believe it's important to keep the parents updated and well informed, and be open and honest with them. If you would like to meet with me let me know!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for my cousins, teacher's children, neighbors, ect. A lot of what I have done is watching babies when the mother is there getting work done, cleaning, or taking time to herself. I have been a group leader for kids at various events and end up loving it every time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As someone who loves art and music, that is probably my favorite thing to do with kids. I am active so I also love playing outside and throwing around a ball. If I can I would love to take them to a park or museum, or whatever else they're interested in.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Keeping the children safe and the parents informed. I take this job very seriously because it's a big deal to leave your children in the care of someone else. While it's nowhere near the same feeling, I do get nervous when my family has to leave our dog with someone else. I'm always careful to make sure the person realizes the responsibility they have been given and uses caution when caring for him.

My experience with special needs children...

I don't have much experience caring for a child with special needs, but I'm very attentive and willing to learn. I've had family members and family friends with autism and down syndrome, so I've been able to learn a bit about what it entails. Severe food allergies is not necessarily considered a disability, but I do have some of my own and will be very capable of taking care of someone with those needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to babysit my old 5th grade teachers toddlers, and they were adorable. My favorite moment has to be every single time I came over because her daughter would be excited to see me, then run over and grab my hand to lead me to whatever she wanted to show me. I have little cousins, so this isn't a favorite nanny moment but it is cute. Two of my little cousins call me "clay-ya" because they can't pronounce my name right and I think it's the cutest thing. I love spending time with them. They're very adventurous and love spending time running around.
