A little bit about me

Hello, I am a retired psychotherapist who worked with children and their parents. I am currently working as a Parent Coach. I am a grandmother of one child age 9. I love sharing time with children and understand that children are the most treasured and valued gift, worthy of respect. I am in Naples, Florida on a part time basis in the winter months. I would like to work part time and help parents out who may want to go to dinner, shopping, or just have the support of a caring individual while they accomplish personal tasks around their home. I am a hands on grandmother and love to go to museums, do crafts, play outdoors, hike, do science projects, etc. I had the privilege of homeschooling my children when they were in grade school for 7 years. I have also tutored children while in Graduate school. I have my Master's degree in Holistic Counseling and a life long learner. I am happy to be of assistance to you and your family.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently volunteer for IRIS working in the pre-school. It is a volunteer program for immigrants and refugee families. I also worked with children doing psychotherapy. I have done art therapy with children as well as play therapy. I volunteered for a program of disabled children with my adult children years ago.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to play!! I love the outdoors and feel it is very important for children to play, the good ole fashion play. I do crafts, beach, museums, board games, etc. I am a playful grandmother with my grandson.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is to be present to the child. Children deserve to be appreciated and valued just as any other human on earth. They are little people with emotions that are just as important as mine or yours. It is also important to understand that a child's behavior is an indication of a particular inner need. That when a child is struggling with bigger emotions, it is the job of the adult to help the child by first becoming regulated to lead the child to a place of learning how to self-regulate. Children are in the throws of learning and it is the job of the adult to model in a way that demonstrates co-regulation.
