Hello, my name is Claudia Whitmore! I am originally from Northern Michigan, but I am currently attending school at Ave Maria University. I am getting married this summer in Michigan in June, and then my husband and I will be living in Ave Maria while he finished his last year of college. I come from a family of five children and my younger brother has Down Syndrome. I have helped take care of him all my life. The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is first the safety of the child and fostering a positive experience. I grew up with some nanny’s that were not always kind and welcoming and as a child that can be very unsettling. I want to always make sure that children are comfortable and having fun, while at the same time doing things that are necessary such as homework and chores. I hold a very big importance on following the parents request for how they would like their child cared for and I always strive to uphold their standards.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a younger brother with Down Syndrome that I’ve helped taken care of my whole life. I’ve also been around the special education class in my local high school while I was still attending school.

The most important part about being a nanny...

All my favorite nanny moments are centered around when the child finally warms up to me. Being able to see the child relax and trust you is a wonderful feeling because the most important thing to me is the happiness and comfort of the child. I always love snuggling and am more than willing to to do it!
