More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am a dedicated and nurturing professional with over a decade of experience caring for children of all ages. As a mother of three grown children, I understand the importance of creating a supportive and loving environment that allows children to flourish. In the 1990s, I spent five rewarding years as a nanny in California, gaining hands-on experience that has shaped my approach to childcare throughout my career.

For more than six years, I have also worked as a Special Education Assistant Teacher, a role that has offered me countless opportunities to teach, learn, and grow. This experience has deepened my understanding of diverse learning needs and enhanced my ability to provide attentive, tailored care for every child.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When spending time with young children, I love engaging in activities that foster creativity, learning, and fun. I enjoy reading stories aloud, sparking their imagination, and encouraging a love for books. Craft projects, like simple arts and crafts or even starting a scrapbook together, are always a hit, as they allow children to express themselves while developing fine motor skills. I also enjoy cooking or baking simple recipes with kids, making the kitchen a fun, hands-on learning experience. Outdoor play is another favorite of mine—whether it's going for walks, playing in the yard, or exploring nature, I believe fresh air and movement are essential for a child's well-being.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most impactful part of being a nanny is the deep, lasting bond you form with the children and their families. As a nanny, you're not just a caregiver—you become a key figure in a child's development, helping to shape their values, confidence, and emotional well-being. The trust, love, and connection that grow from this role are incredibly fulfilling, as you witness firsthand the children thriving under your care and support. The relationships built can extend far beyond the time spent together, often lasting a lifetime.

My experience with special needs children...

I have over six years of experience working as a Special Education Assistant Teacher with District 20, during which I supported children with a variety of needs and learning differences. Additionally, I spent two years as an online assistant teacher with the Alsea school system in Oregon, where I adapted to the virtual environment to continue providing personalized support to students. My work in both settings has deepened my understanding of the unique challenges faced by children with special needs, and I have earned certifications in behavior management and de-escalation, which have been invaluable in helping me create a calm and supportive learning environment. My passion for making a positive impact in the lives of these children drives me to continuously grow as an educator and caregiver.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my most cherished nanny moments was when I got married in 1993. The family I had been working with not only attended the wedding but also captured it on video for me. Over the years, we had truly become like family, and it meant the world to have them there, supporting and loving me, just as I had supported and loved them throughout our time together.
