A little bit about me

Hello there.My name is Courtney Guillory. I am from Lake Charles, La. I am looking to help families in the area! I have always loved children. As a young teenager, I babysat for family and cared for children of all ages. For 4 years, I worked at St. Luke Simpson Childcare here in Lake Charles where I befriended many families who welcomed me into their home to babysit their children. If I had to put a number on the families that I babysit for, it would be about 15. I love children so much that I first studied Early Childhood Education in college. After realizing that there are children and adults who suffer from mental disabilities, I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from McNeese State University. I recently graduated with my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lamar University. I currently work as a School Counselor at an elementary school in Sulphur . More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a toddler teacher at St. Luke Simpson Childcare for 4 years. I also babysat for families in the Lake Charles area for 10+ years. I taught 1st and 3rd grade and currently work as a School Counselor in Sulphur, LA.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a previous teacher daycare, I’ve learned that the brain of a child is like a sponge. I love doing art work as it allows the child’s creativity to show. I love reading, making music, dancing, going to the park or birthday parties, and field trips around the city! As a teacher and counselor, I see this philosophy applies to older children as well!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing about being a nanny is the welfare of the child. When I became a nanny, I realized that these kids are my responsibility. I learn to love and care for them as if they are my own. They are under my care and they must remain in one piece under my watch!

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have much experience with a special needs child. That does not mean that I am not willing to learn!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have so many! One memorable moment is at the end of a busy day, my babies want to cuddle and watch a movie. It’s a bonding yet calm down moment for all of us.
