A little bit about me

Hi my name is Courtney. I'm a single mom of 2 boys ages 19, and 27. I have worked with children for approx. 30 yrs. I've worked as a Nanny, Assistant teacher in a daycare/Montessori school, and had my own In-Home LICENSED Daycare yrs. Ago when I lived in Glenview. Working with children is my passion. I've taken numerous classes in ECE through GATEWAYS for DCFS/STATE OF IL. I have also taken Infant/child CPR/FIRST AID at all my Daycare jobs as well as when I had my IN-HOME LICENSED DAYCARE IN GLENVIEW. I have mostly worked with Infant-Preschool age children. I want to go back to working as a Nanny because I feel like I can give more of myself for up to 2 children opposed to 15-20 @ a Daycare Center. I'm looking for a P/T or F/T position. I'm flexible with hrs, and can also work weekend/ evening hrs. If needed. If I find the right family, then I can start ASAP, but am flexible on a start date.

Daycares/Montessori schools as a Teacher's Assistant/Nanny for 10 yrs/ Owner/child care provider in my own LICENSED IN-HOME DAYCARE in Glenview for 3 yrs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some of the things I like to do with kids (depending on age) inside is reading, music, some art and/or sensory play as well as working on Developmental Skills, and teaching children the Alphabet, Numbers, Shapes, Colors, the Weather etc. *(As weather conditions permit), I love to be outside for walks, play in the yard, and go to the park.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being able to give my full attention physically and emotionally to 1-2 children opposed to
15-20 at a Daycare/School. As well as developing a close relationship with the children as well as the parents. My goal is to always give 100% to the children I care for as if they were my own.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with some Preschool children at my last daycare position I worked with a few children that had some development and learning Disabilities. On a personal level, starting at around 9-12 months I noticed that my ( now 19 yr old) son was not meeting his developmental milestones. He was also having great difficulty swallowing without vomiting when I tried to switch him to chunkier/table food ( opposed to pureed food). He also would only drink milk in his bottle. I took him to a specialist and it was determined that he was on the Autism Spectrum/PDDNOS level. So I had OT/PT/SPEECH/DEVELOPMENTAL therapists coming into my home , as well as taking him to a Speech/feeding therapist to help him with his Sensory Processing Disorder. When he was 3 yrs. Old he started at our Elementary School in their Preschool program for kids with at least a 30% developmental delays. His fabulous teacher also worked with him @ snack time with getting him to eat more textured food without vomiting.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Was watching the children, age Infant-Preschool clients reach their developmental milestones, especially crawling and taking their 1st steps, as well as achieving Educational goals.
