Hello my name is Dakota, I am 21 years old. I pursued a degree in Laser & Medical Advanced Esthetics! I have 5+ years of work experience in retail, child & animal care and medical field. I currently work full-time at a treatment facility, working with clients who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. I am CPR & First Aid Certified. I am also trained on MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment). other work experience comes from roles as Special Education Assistant (EA) in a school district, DSP, Dental Assistant, and Personal Grocery Shopper. One goal that I would love to achieve is opening my own business as a Laser Technician, and a dream of mine is to one day travel to Skaithos, Greece!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 5+ years experience working with children! My past experience includes taking Early Childhood Education and Childhood Development. those classes gave me the opportunity to work in a preschool for 3.5 months and study all stages of development on 1 child along with hosting groups, activities, games, etc. those classes did also give me college credits as well :) I am one of eleven kids which has given me responsibilities of caring for my younger siblings. My siblings and I range oldest 24 years old to 6 months old and I’m towards the top of the tree! I have also been in roles of not only being a big sister, but caring for my grandparents, occasional babysitting for family members, friends and animal care taking as well! Professional experience took place in healthcare which exceeded my understanding and expectations for myself on HIPAA, communication, organization skills, cross-contamination, attention to detail, medication management, active listening and patient care.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm very patient, and enjoy building connections with kids, with that I love to sing and dance, baking too! I enjoy doing adventurous activities and using our imagination to make the best of our time! I also love any arts or crafts, your child/children(s) art will look beyond better than mine which will make it a lot of fun!! I am comfortable with all kinds of personalities and ages, that’s what makes you unique!

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters most to me, I want the children/child I’m caring for to feel safe & comfortable when being in my care! I want the parents to also feel that their child is in good hands, and that they have someone they can rely on to help step in with not only taking care of their child, but also with household responsibilities! my ability to not only example five character traits: compassion, respect, responsibility, self discipline and honesty. But my passion is engaging with all individuals no matter what stage of life their in, I always am making the time we spend together both enjoyable and educational. it’s important that you are always acknowledging and communicating to a child/children with respect and problem solving in creative and respectful approach. I believe projecting those traits will lead to successful caretaking and trust with the family.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for my youngest brother. He is three years old, nonverbal and has ASD. I also worked as a EA at a school district, which my role was working with students who are with high needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t think there’s one moment I can pick from all of them! I really enjoy making the kids that I’ve watched and worked with laugh. I think child laughter is what really sticks with me. It makes me feel good about myself because if I hear a laugh, it shows i’m doing a good job and that the child is comfortable with me!!
