More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
as a lactation intern on a mother/baby unit in a Boston hospital. I also managed a Waldorf-inspired toy store with drop in crafts, birthday parties, play groups and summer camps. I attend a family camp in the summer where I am a counselor for ages 3-11 in Starksboro VT.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I strive to spend time outside daily, enjoying walks and observing independent play. I also make myself well connected within the community to search out play groups, friends, and weekly drop-in activities. Throughout the day, we keep a daily rhythm (routine) that includes developmentally appropriate activities, caregiving, and light household activities. I follow a lot of Janet Lansbury philosophies where caregiving (feeding, diapering, bathing, etc) and household tasks become an important and connecting part of our day. I observe with interest in their play, mostly without interruption, and give my full attention when they desire it. Respectful care and trusting an infants competence is at the core of what I do.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is focusing on the family as a whole. Working collaboratively with families in alignment with their values is of utmost importance to the type of support I desire to give.
My experience with special needs children...
I am comfortable caring for infants with feeding difficulties as I was credentialed as an IBCLC and a degree in Maternal Child Health. I am also comfortable caring for infants who have been born prematurely and might have special needs surrounding their prematurity.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is sharing in first steps and milestones. These moments which are so important to parents, give me great joy in watching a parents excitement and a child's pure confidence in themselves
