Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve been working day cares since the age of 15, accumulating infant through 3rd grade certification; working in all of those classroom settings, as well as babysitting jobs on the side. One of those babysitting jobs turned into a private position, caregiver and private nanny for over 10 years as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love all sports, and outdoor activities - happy to take dogs and go on walks, riding bikes, or whatever space and equipment available that is safe that the kids enjoy. Reading books, and art projects; blocks and building, depending on the age range and their interests. I want our time together to be fun, however I am happy to help with homework and help around the house, or whatever the situation may be.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is having a real connection and friendship with the children, as well as the parents. Open communication is key, because I am only here to help the parents and as well as the kids, and make the situation a happy one for us all.
My experience with special needs children...
I began working with children when I was 15, and went to work Monday- Friday after my classes - and I did this throughout college. I worked full time during the summers every year, and we always had children from an Autistic school come with their teachers to help migrate the students into a typical classroom setting. It was extremely eye opening and rewarding in many ways, and always looked forward to that experience. Those children are amazing.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was taking the elder brother into the hospital to meet his baby sister for the first time. He literally saw his first real rainbow in the sky that day on the way to go see her. It was a magical and unforgettable day.
