I was a pre-school teacher for four years as I attended Aberdeen High School, before transferring to Carver Vocational Tech for my last 6 months of the course.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy creative and artistic activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, and singing songs. As well as educational and developmental activities like reading books, playing learning games and outdoor nature exploration.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that the most important part about being a nanny is being able to create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for the children to feel comfortable to learn, grow, and to fully express themselves. We should be able to build a strong bond through trust, and respect between children as well as their parents to ensure consistency in care. I believe it’s also important to be genuine with the enthusiasm for engaging in child care, it’s important to be a positive role model and ensure the children’s well being at all times.
My experience with special needs children...
My younger brother has autism, and through caring for him I have gained first hand experience in understanding and supporting his unique needs. I have learned patience, adaptability and ways to communicate with him that allow him to feel comfortable. I’ve become very familiar with sensory sensitivities, structured routines, and using positive reinforcement. I understand that every child is different and my personal and professional experience has given me a strong foundation in providing compassionate and individualized care.
