I cook (using fresh/available foods while respecting the child including age & medical issues), clean, do laundry, drive! We can play inside (device-free or not) or outside (depending on preference, weather, time). I'm present, communicate positively, model love & patience.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve primarily cared for children in their houses (twice as a live-in) or mine, as a babysitter, driver, nanny, tutor, or respite worker (with experience with babies through elderly who have adhd, autism, anxiety, deaf, dementia/Alzheimer’s, fibro, mental illnesses including bipolar/depression, ocd, odd, spd, speech difference, and more)! I’ve also cared for kids in an after school Montessori programs, at a space camp at AFB, special events, and in other similar situations. I hope that this shows that I am not only very experienced and really love and care about kids, and can provide a loving, educational, supportive, safe time!

My experience with special needs children...

I have over 15 years nannying (and 5-star ratings from autism moms), doing respite, & tutoring tots, children, teens, ya who have special needs including adhd, allergies, anxiety, asd/autism, bipolar, dyslexia/dysgraphia, odd/pda, orphan diseases, speech differences (delays, echolelia, selective mutism, Tourette’s syndrome, etc), seizures, spd, etc!

I earned a BS in Bio (lots of Psych-Neuro-Physiology) with a minor in English & classes Edu; earned a vet med degree; & finished a post-doc related to nutrition & 1-health. I have been trained in/use (modified) aba/gentle parenting/parent-child bonding, asl, & pic; & do yoga & meditation (am calm, patient)!

I currently nanny a 5G who has adhd, asd; tutor a 8G who has has add, anxiety, ptsd; help raise (had 24/7 custody of for 2 years) my (adopted) 12 yo son who has a rare terminal disease, nonverbal autism, seizures; & do animal care!

The most important part about being a nanny...

With each child (and often the parent(s)), I can see a moment when they can take a breath, smile, and/or have that realization when they know that they are amazing or loved, and/or know the solution.

For my (adopted) son (who has a rare terminal disease, nonverbal autism, seizures, and more) and his mom, there have been many moments, but a big one was when he said “mom” for the first time, a few days before Mother’s Day! (He had learned 20 words when I had near 24/7 custody of him while we lived in HI!) You could see his excitement to say it and express his love for her, and see how excited she was to hear it! (I wished i could have filmed it, as her mom was there too!) My heart melted. I love that moment!
