A little bit about me

Hello, I’m Deborah, but my friends also call me Orah.

I love taking care of infants and toddlers. I have over twenty years of experience in childcare and have worked with babies as young as three months old to kids up to five years of age.

As a member of the International Nanny Association, I stay updated on the latest childcare practices and have worked as a full-time nanny for several families. I engage infants and toddlers through play and interaction to help them learn. I also make sure to keep them safe by being CPR and First Aid certified.

I’m a retired Army nurse and left my corporate job in 2021 to pursue my passion for childcare while earning my master's degree online.

I am patient, reliable, and caring. I adapt my approach to meet the needs of each child, and I really enjoy seeing them learn and grow.

Thank you for considering me as your nanny! I'm excited about the possibility of joining your family and helping your children thrive during these important years.

"Deborah is incredibly nurturing and attentive. Her calm demeanor made it easy for our son to feel secure and loved. For example, during his early teething phase, she employed various soothing techniques that comforted and helped him develop healthy sleep habits. She is also highly communicative; I appreciate her daily updates via text messages and photos. This transparency allowed me to feel connected while I was at work. Her ability to articulate our son’s needs and milestones made it easier for us as parents to stay involved in his development. Additionally, she demonstrated remarkable reliability. She was always punctual and never missed a day of work. We parted ways with great sadness as our son transitioned into daycare; however, we are grateful for Deborah's invaluable role in his early life. I cannot recommend her enough to any family seeking a dedicated and loving caregiver for their infant. You can trust that your child will be in the best hands with Deborah."

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

- Water Play: Fill a container with water and provide cups, scoops, and toys for pouring and splashing.
- Kinetic Sand Play: Use kinetic sand for molding, shaping, and pretend play.
- Bubble Wrap Painting: Tape bubble wrap to a surface, squirt paint on it, and let toddlers press paper onto it for a fun texture.
- Pom Pom Sorting in Egg Cartons: Use an empty egg carton to sort colorful pom poms by color.
- Pasta Threading: Use rigatoni pasta and string or pipe cleaners for threading activities.
- Pretend Cooking with Play Dough: Provide play dough and utensils for creative cooking scenarios.
- Building Forts with Blankets: Encourage imaginative play by building forts using blankets and pillows.
- Dress-Up Box Exploration: Create a box of costumes or accessories for role-playing different characters.

These activities keep toddlers engaged, promote learning through play, and develop essential skills

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny, it is crucial to prioritize the safety, nurturing, and support of the children under your care. This involves maintaining a safe environment, building strong connections with the children, understanding child development, effective communication with parents and children, being reliable and trustworthy, and being flexible and adaptable to changing situations.

Ultimately, loving and respecting children is the most important aspect of being a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

My adult son is high-functioning autistic, and doing quite well, I might add.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny, one of my fondest memories took place during a summer trip to the WNC Nature Center with the children I looked after.

When we arrived, we started exploring the different exhibits. The kids were completely captivated by the River Otter webbed feet, and extra eylids that act as goggles! While we were watching the otters, one of the younger children asked, “Can we be otters too?” This led to an impromptu game where we laughed and had a great time, even gaining attention from other visitors. It was a moment full of joy and bonding that reminded me why I enjoy being a nanny.

This experience embodied everything I love about my job: encouraging creativity, sharing laughter, and creating lasting memories with children. It wasn't just about looking after them; it was about immersing myself in their world and making every moment special. I love hearing the contagious, authentic, and joyful laugh of a child!

I’m an experienced and dependable caregiver with a lifelong connection to working with children. After that experience, I began babysitting and nannying throughout high school and college, building strong relationships with families and gaining experience with children of different ages. Katie C. - Seeking Work in Biltmore Forest

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Biltmore Forest, NC: Katie C.

I am “the” ultimate example that every child is unique and needs room to grow and utilize their individual talents , but the one thing we all need is some kind of structure ! I have one child that is 14 and been caring for her, her best friend and autistic brother since they were born. I love being outdoors, creating games to play, and “indoor” days finding arts and crafts project, building forts to watch movies, and letting them use their imaginations!! With infants sometimes more than one technique to find the most effective way to calm them down, learn what they’re trying to verbally (but unable) to say, and stimulating their minds both physically and mentally so they do adapt to a routine and are comfortable with it and myself! I have had very effective techniques for developing a schedule that I’ve found they are more apt to tell me when I veer off if it! I’m extremely patient, flexible with scheduling, and would love to get the chance to speak with you and meet your kids!
