I volunteer at my grandmas daycare every winter. It’s kids 1-12 and I would usually come in after school at 4 and stay till close. I worked most closely with the 1-3 and 4-8 groups.

The most important thing for me is that the kids trust me,which I know takes time but it’s always been an important priority for me and is just as imperative as having the parents trust because I pride myself on being a safe space for the kids I work with.
My experience with special needs children...
The most experience I have with special needs in kids age 6-12 are my twin cousins they one has add/adhd and the other has autism and I’ve babysat and worked with them before their diagnosis and after. While I do think I still sometimes struggle to communicate boundaries and rules properly I think it all gets better with time and getting to know the child closely.
