Hi! My name is DeJour and I have been nannying since my early adolescence and am now the proud parent to my own special needs three year old! In total I have about 10 years + experience that now includes being a sole caregiver for my medically needy child. My experience doesn’t quite fit the traditional format but I have experience as a Sunday School teacher (9+ years and counting), and have done consistent babysitting jobs and overnight nannying jobs. Children's Ministry Teacher for 10+ years with infants, toddlers, and kids age 4-14.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going on walks/to the park (love the outdoors), coloring, singing/dancing, building with blocks, learning new skills, reading, playing with puzzles (or video games if allowed). I'm a big kid at heart myself :)

My experience with special needs children...

My daughter was special needs due to an accident. She was non verbal with limited mobility. She was trach and g-tube dependent, so she required 24/7 care. I was the sole caretake of my daughter for 2 years and have been trained how to do cpr with a trach, replace trachs and g-tubes, read medical equipment (heart rate monitors and 02 sensors, blood pressure cuffs, feeding pumps, oxygenators etc.), and respond to emergency situations (non responsive child).

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to nanny for two little boys (around 4 and 6) and I role played as Spider Man (even got defeated by Doc Ock!) from the time I arrived until I left, because it was the boys' ABSOLUTE favorite super here :) I love being able to step into the kid's world with them, and really help their imagination come to life.
