A little bit about me

I've been caring for children for pretty much my whole life, at least as far back as I can remember. I come from a large extended family, so being 5 to 8 years older than most of my cousins. Myself, my brother, and my two cousins were always in charge of the younger cousins in whatever we were doing, away from our parents. Which in my day was just about everything. I am forty six years old now. I received my babysitting certificate at age 11. I know crazy in todays world, but anyway i started to watch children in my neighborhood and for family right after that. Since then I never really stopped. I have never been in a situation where I ever lost my cool with a child, not even with my own children. I have a very kind and gentle sole. I am honest, reliable, great at my job, more than twenty plus years combined of childcare experience, I do errands, I am the kind of person who is dedicated to your kids, enjoy outdoor activities and, reading.

In this position I cared for three children beginning ages 1 1/2 2 1/2 and a 5 year old boy. In the position I educate through play. Outdoor activities, baking, learning the basics of measuring ingredients, Hide and seek was their favorite, building tents out of blankets, and, anything where I could get their imaginations working for them and not just against them. For example being afraid of the dark. All three of these children happen to be. I showed them how not to be afraid anymore.
Any sort of adventures outdoors. The summer months I would try to get them away from the house to. Such places as camping in the backyard, swimming, farmers market, Hoffmaster State park, and just a lot more trips to the park as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading to children and having them read to me.
I enjoy outdoor activities like swimming in the summer time, going to the park, using their imaginations to create new games (depending on the age determined the games), baking, matching, colors, shapes, alphabet (song's and games), hide and seek, building tents out of blankets, counting games, red-light green-light, educational activities, and, nature walks.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing about being a nanny to me is, that I am here to help this family and become an extension of the parents.
To help their children when they are away from their home. Also I believe that the parents being able to trust you is also very important. Without that there would be no nanny positions available for myself.

My experience with special needs children...

I cared for a toddler who became diabetic while I was caring for her.
I received nine hours of training on how to take care of a diabetic child.

I have taken care of a child who has multiple sclerosis.

I have cared for a autistic teenager.

I have cared for children who have had adhd to the point where their school wouldn't allow them to attend without their medication, they also had odd.
These were twins age 8.
They were great children and I never had a problem getting them to do anything. Mainly they just wanted a lot of attention. No problem that is why I am there.

I cared for my own children who have generalized anxiety disorder, adhd, bi-polar and, a mood disorder.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment being a nanny was when my extreme fear of needles was overcome by the feeling of love I have for the child I cared for, meant more to me than my fear of needles.
I wasn't sure if I could keep my position with this family because of the fear I felt.
I was able to overcome this fear for her.
This was my favorite time because I knew how much I actually cared about this family and for the toddler I was able to overcome my fears for the both of them.
