I am a single mom who is in the process of transitioning from full time professional work to part time work so that I have more time with my daughter and more breathing space. I have worked in education for over 15 years, both in the college setting and in K-12 environments. I value diversity and compassion and I bring this energy into all of my interactions, especially in the role of supporting and guiding children and young adults. I am well versed in working with kiddos and individuals with disabilities and value supporting people of all backgrounds and experiences. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I served as a nanny in college for a family with two children. I provided care for 2.5 years. Additionally, I served as a preschool teacher for a brief period of time and have worked at the Boys & Girls Club and the Claremont Club, hosting aferschool activities and programming to support overall development.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love arts & crafts, music, outdoor exploration, board games and other learning activities, and pretty much am open to supporting anything that the children are interested and that helps them feel grounded, secure, and safe.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is ensuring that both the parents/guardians and the children feel safe, at ease, and at home. I value communication and trust and openness and it is always an honor to be entrusted by parents/families to provide comfot and care for their children. As a mom, I know how big of a deal that is.

My experience with special needs children...

My daughter is on the spectrum and I grew up with a brother on the spectrum as well. In addition, I have worked in disabilities and accommodations services for almost 4 years, helping to support college students who have physical, learning, and even "invisible" disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the littles I was watching was having a hard time because she made a mistake on a drawing and it was the very last piece of paper in the house. She was in the middle of a big meltdown. I found a paper plate and placed it on the floor next to her. I said, "how silly would it be if instead of eating off of that plate, we drew a picture on it." She paused and looked at the plate and smiled. I explained to her that it was okay to make mistakes and that I was still proud of her for creating something with her own brain and that even though the plate is not paper, it can still be used as a canvas to create art. She used the plate to make a new picture and was okay after that. The next day, she asked if we could make more paper plate art and it became one of her favorite things to do when I would watch her. This moment was beautiful because I was able to teach her that it was okay to make mistakes and be innovative to find solutions. It also informed the way that I parent and engage.
