More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 20 plus years of child care experience with an extensive special education/special needs background. I started child care working in daycare, then 6-7 years with the Head Start program. I then began working for FBISD as an educational assistant. I obtained my RBT certification and began administering ABA therapy to children diagnosed with autism. I currently work with a FBISD structured therapeutic educational program with children with physical and developmental disabilities as well as behavior issues.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I prefer to observe and interact with children to see what their preferences as well as to form a trusting relationship.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part is to provide structure, schedules and teaching in a way that is enjoyable for the child. However, the part that is most important to me is forming a relationship and trust with the child/children (as well as the parents) that I am working with. This, I believe, produces amazing results!
My experience with special needs children...
I have an extensive background in special education and working with children with physical and developmental disabilities (especially autism), which I absolutely love. I am a former RBT and work with children who require accommodations and modifications on a daily basis.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I don’t have a favorite moment in particular but I LOVE to be able to experience when a child who has been declared “nonverbal” begins to say words or when any child becomes able to do something that to my could not do before and/or to hit any milestones. Especially if it’s something that I have personally been focusing on with that child. Those moments are the best!
