More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered at AI DuPont Children Hospital for a very short time. I couldn’t handle the children suffering or died overnight. I went back to foster children talking in teenage mothers and babies. At one point I had 3 teenager’s [phone number hidden] year olds and one 12 year old, there social worker asked me if I was crazy. I was also the area rep for the Exchange Foundation for foreign studies. I’ve had teenagers from all over the world living with me as well as I would place them in different homes after making sure the homes are suitable and the people pass background checks. I would organize different parties and trips for the students throughout the United States.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depending on the age of the child if they are old enough to play puzzles sing songs or just whatever games the child likes to play. I also believe it is very important for the child to have outdoor time playing on the swings, going down the slide or playing in the sand if we are at the beach or looking for seashells. If the parents permits going swimming if they have a pool or if I’m allowed to take them to where I live where there is a heated pool in my community and having the child play in the water here or learning to swim. I am no longer certified on teaching to swim I was when I was very very young I have taught both of my nephews and my niece as well as many of the infants that have lived with me over the years to swim. Children like to explore many things and do many things, I think it is important to show them and teach them by reading and doing things with them and not just putting them in front of a TV. I’m very much a hands-on person children seem to just come to me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I could never have children of my own and I feel that opening up my home to foster children, foreign exchange students, and international students I have definitely helped make a difference in these children’s lives. Many of them have grown up have children of their own and are very successful in their lives. I also feel that my children have all learned to also “pay forward“ such as when the war broke out in Ukraine one of my girls drove from Italy to Poland made a sign on cardboard saying free ride to Italy so she brought two mothers and their children back to Italy. When she brought them to Italy she help them get with families so they would have a place to live and help them find jobs. There’s so many reasons for me to be proud of opening up my home to so many children as well as yes there was also heartbreaks. But I would say the most important part is that I was part of each one of these in the children’s lives.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I was dating my husband I had a little boy name Bobby when I would go to leave the house Bobby would run over in front of the door put his arms across the door and go “no mom mom you can’t leave” he would not want me to go out at all and he would cry. The first time he did that I had to pick him up and bring him into the living room and rock him for a little while and sing to him and ensure him that I would be back and that his mommy will be there with him. When I left the house I have to say I was crying also I will never forget that as long as I live. When I came home I would always check Bobby to make sure that his mother never abused him that was my biggest fear of all that she would hit him since she had a bad temper. He was my little love he was such a hugger and he would love to crawl up on my lap and just hug real tight and say I love you. He was one very special child.

I am a licensed practical nurse of 30 years. I have 3 grown children. I was a Girl Scout troop leader and community registrar for 4 years. When my children were young I worked as a camp nurse. I love kids. I am crafty, and very outdoorsy. I drive a Subaru Outback and have a clean drivers license. I am considering this change of occupation since I am relocating to the Sebastian Fl area. For me this isn’t work, it’s fun!
